Honey Jazel

is a burlesque dancer who performs with North Carolina’s longest running, award winning burlesque and vaudeville show, Big Mamma’s House of Burlesque. Honey has had a lifelong love affair with dance. She told us that "she has danced ever since she could walk". Although she dances burlesque, her love for dance doesn’t stop there. This passion has led to her performing in several dance styles including; Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Pointe, Praise Dance, and African. When asked what drew her to burlesque she replied “it is the glitz, glamour, and the sensuality of the art form”. She further explained “I have had an infatuation with burlesque since I was a little girl. So, when I saw an audition for burlesque dancers posted on a website, I jumped on the opportunity and have been dancing burlesque ever since.” Her influences in burlesque include such legends as Gypsy Rose Lee, Dita Von Teese, and Perle Noire. Her ultimate goal is to make the burlesque hall of fame.

In addition to performing on stage, she shared “I love arts and crafts, making candles, painting, pretty much anything creative. I also love to read.” Her creativity is also seen behind the scenes as she currently works at developing her own dance production company that she strives to grow into an international success.

Who was the last person you told “I love you”? 
Honey:  My mother.


What will you find in your refrigerator if you looked right now?
Honey:  Last night’s leftovers, water, and tea.


What was the last expletive that you used? 
Honey:  I just said “holy shit” a few minutes ago.


When was the last time you cried? 
Honey:  A week ago.


What is the worst tasting thing you have ever eaten? 
Honey:  Chocolate-covered mothballs…don’t ask lol


In the film of your life, who plays you and what is the title?
Honey:  Gabrielle Union and the title would be Hood Dreams.


What is the last furry thing that you touched? 
Honey:  Sarah’s furry costume from the Viva Lust Vegas show.


When was the last time you had a hangover?
Honey:  Over a year ago.


Do you remember the last time you saw a random act of kindness?
Honey:  I was walking back home with a friend when she stopped and helped an older lady who was struggling to carry all of her grocery bags. She asked the lady if she needed help and then picked up most of her bags and carried them to the lady’s front door.  


If your iPod could only hold 3 songs, what would they be?
Honey:  Delta Rae – Bottom of the River, Billie Holiday – Strange Fruit, Tamela Mann – Take Me to the King.


What are you currently reading?
Honey:  Stephen King’s Rosemary’s Baby


Have you ever broken someone’s heart?
Honey:  Unfortunately, yes.


If personalities had an odor, what would you smell like?
Honey:  A jar of honey.


You are running in a race and overtake the second-place runner. What position are you now in? 
Honey:  First, of course.


Describe your happy place?
Honey:  Anywhere there is a stage!


What is the longest period that you have ever gone without taking a bath?
Honey:  12 hours. I’m obsessed with smelling good.


What is your theme song?
Honey:  Sam Cooke – A Change is Gonna Come.


Have you ever been spanked or spanked someone as an adult?
Honey:  Yes and yes. Who doesn’t love a good spanking.


What do you do when you feel sad or depressed?
Honey:  I cry.


If you were being attacked by the tickle monster, who would you want it to be?
Honey:  Only Mel could tickle me and get away with it.


Do you believe in ghosts?
Honey:  Why? Yes I do. I lived in an old apartment building that was haunted. Things would be moved around from where I originally placed them all the time. One night while watching tv, I turned around saw an older lady standing on the landing of the stairs. I quickly turned back to the tv and when I turned back around she was gone. It was either a ghost or the horror movie I was watching really got to me.


Describe the perfect kiss using no more than 5 words?
Honey:  Passionate, sensual, and NO SLOBBER.


What is your greatest fear?
Honey:  Failure


What is the best dish you can cook?
Honey:  Lasagna from scratch


Do you truly feel loved?
Honey:  Yes.
