Kathleen Hanna

is an American musician, feminist activist, and punk zine writer. In the early- to mid-1990s she was the lead singer of Bikini Kill.[1]  The band is widely considered to be the pioneer of the riot grrrl movement, and was notorious for its radical feminist lyrics and fiery performances.[2] Kathleen released a solo album in 1998 under the name Julie Ruin. After Bikini Kill disbanded she formed her next band Le Tigre with Johanna Fateman. in 2010, she began her next project, the band the Julie Ruin, which released their debut album, Run Fast, on September 3, 2013.

In addition, she is the subject of a new documentary "The Punk Singer, A film about Kathleen Hanna". The film is the work of Sini Anderson and is currently touring the country playing one night shows at select theaters. In 2011, a documentary about her band Le Tigre's farewell tour was released to DVD. The release is titled "Who Took the Bomp? Le Tigre on Tour" and is currently available on Netflix.

    Kathleen:  6 months? 3 weeks if you meant bath or shower.

    Kathleen:  Both.

    Kathleen:  I drink coffee like everyone else.

    Kathleen:  Yes. I tell myself this.  I just wish everyone else understood how lovable I am.
