In addition, she is the subject of a new documentary "The Punk Singer, A film about Kathleen Hanna". The film is the work of Sini Anderson and is currently touring the country playing one night shows at select theaters. In 2011, a documentary about her band Le Tigre's farewell tour was released to DVD. The release is titled "Who Took the Bomp? Le Tigre on Tour" and is currently available on Netflix.
- She married Adam Horovitz (aka King Ad-Rock) of the Beastie Boys in 2006.
- Hanna used the release of the film The Punk Singer to announce her years-long battle with Lyme disease.[3]
- She appeared in the music video for Sonic Youth's "Bull in the Heather".
- Unintentionally, Kathleen was the source for the 1991 Nirvana monster single, "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Reportedly, she wrote "Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit" on Kurt Cobain's wall. Although Kurt did not realize Kathleen was referring to a deodorant for young women, he thought the phrase was perfect for the song's theme.[4]
- She pressed assault charges against Courtney Love for punching her in the face. Courtney later pleaded guilty to the charge.[5]
- She wrote a chapter in Robin Morgan's book "Sisterhood is forever, the woman's anthology for a new millennium" about her experiences as a young feminist.[6]
